TABS: College Central

Each year at its annual national convention the National Federation of the Blind awards scholarships to outstanding students who show scholastic achievement, community/campus involvement, and good character. Likewise, the National Federation of the Blind of Texas awards scholarships at its convention for deserving students within our state. Unfortunately, the deadline for both scholarship programs have passed, but the national scholarship program's deadline is March 31. Although the state's deadline may vary from year to year, it is typically within mid May. Popular scholarship databases will yield general information regarding these opportunities, but you are, of course, welcomed to view specific details at our web site well in advance so that you too may apply.

Other College and Financial Aid Resources

The following is a brief compilation of college related web sites. Some offer specific information while others provide a wealthy abundance of features that allow you to do everything from learning about student loan programs to preparing for standardized exams, even applying to the school of your choice online! This page, as with all other information provided via the TABS web site, will be constantly expanded and updated to better keep you informed. We encourage you to examine each resource so that you may be better prepared for your college experience, or, if you are already in college, we hope these resources will provide further suggestions in helping you make the most of your higher education. These are in no way associated with TABS or the NFB and should not be viewed as a total alternative to the information that is provided by your high school guidance counselor or your college institution's financial aid office. If you have other resource suggestions please send them to the Web Master so that we may share the information with others.
